Paphiopedilum lowii

This Venus's shoe with beautiful flowers is prevented by its bulkiness from becoming more widespread-its leaves happen to reach lengths of 12 in /30 cm. The flower spike is up to 24 in/60 cm tall and bears 3-5 large flowers . The petals are abnormally elongated , purple on the ends and adorned at the base with a dozen red -and -brown spots . The lip is less showy ,ranging in color between brownish -red and red . P. lourii grows both lithophytically and epiphytically in northern Borneo. It blooms between March and June .
