Paphiopedilum malipoense

Inspite of its attractive appearance , this species remained completely unknown until 1984 ;only after that year did it find its way to collections .P. malipoense is not easy to cultivate and the plants thus remain very rare . A similar species -P. jackii -that was not discovered until 1999 ,differs from the P. malipoense Venus's shoe only in minute details of the morphology of its flower colomn . Single greenish with a delicate red marking and a notably pouched robust lip adorned on the inside with a re d decoration . Cultivation of this specious should be left up to experts . The plants blooms in th e spring and come from south western China.
