Paphiopedilum tigrinum

Paphiopedilum tigrinum

The flowers of this species are embellished with pronounced brown -and -red spots that are ,judged by the standered of the genus ,rather large and distributed on the flowers in a some what unusual way . Inspite of this idiosyncrasy ,the species passed completely unnoticed by botanists for a long time and was not described until the end of the 2nd millennium .P. tigrinum is a medium-sized Venus's shoe with thinner -than -average leaves free of any marking . The species should be cultivated in the same way as the other representatives of the genus that come from southwest Asia. The flowers appear in the spring and the plant is native to southern China.
