when in bloom ,this species has a very peculiar appearance -its slim flower spike turns at the end into a robust ,enlarged , sometimes club-shaped ,flattened flower spindle . The yellow flowers covered with brown spots are up to 2 in /5 cm across and they grow out of the spindle in long time intervals until they are pollinated ;each flower lasts on the plant for up to several months! The flower spindles are long -lived ,and in addition to that ,they repetedly add in growth after a while . An ''albino '' variety is know to exist - p . cornu -cervi var . alba -with pure yellow flowers free of brown spots . This popular orchids blooms between May and August . It is native to Sumatra ,Java , Borneo and mainland malaysia
