Phalaenopsis gigantea

P. gigantea is the bulkiest species of the entire Phalaenopsis genus . Its leaves are up to 20 in /50 cm long , flaccidly overhanging ,bluish greenn . The suspended inflorescence is up to 1.6 -in/ 4-cm long and bears 15-20 whitish flowers with brown and red spots and a tinu lip . The color of the 2 in/ 5 cm large flowers is somewhat variable . The cultivation requirements are the same as those applied to other thermophilic Phalaenopsis species; because of the type of development and weight of its leaves , P. gigantea can only be grown epiphytically .It blooms between June and the fall and comes from Borneo.
