Amateure cultivators sometimes mistake this species for a miniature small- flowered plant P. lobbii ,owing to its similar sounding species name .P. lowii is a medium -sized orchid that outside of the flowering period resembles a smaller specimen of P. amabilis . Its 2- in /5r-cm across or smaller flowers also have a similar shape but they are colored in a light shade of pink and their purple column is extended like a break . The lip is also purple column is extrended like a break . The lip is also purple and it lacks the pair of pendants characteristic of .P. amabilis . The erect , 16 -in /40 cm tall or smaller inflorescence bearing 5 -12 flowers develops between July and October . P. lowii was discovered in Burma.
