Phalaenopsis lueddemannianaP. lueddemnniana is the most widespread botanical species isn collections ,thanks not only to its beautiful flowers but also its capability of easy vegetative propogation : after fading ,its flower spikes repeatedly give rise to daughter plants . The flowers are highly variable, some flower varieties are now considered independent species (see p. hieroglyphica). On typical specimen ,the flowers are fleshy ,up to 2 in/ 5 cm in diameter ,whitish with dense ,crosswise purple spots . The flower lip is hairly in the central part. P. lueddemanniana is used in breeding for creating - star-shaped flower types . Cultivation is easy and does not differ from other thermophilic representatives of the genus. The plant's faded inflorescences should not be removed by rule and the vegetatively created plants should be separated until they grow several leaves and their own roots . The species blooms mostly in the spring and early summer. It comes from the Philippines .
