Phalaenopsis modesta

This markedly warmth -and -moisture -loving species ''imitates'' p. violacea in cultivation demands .Its extremely shortened stems bear relatively large fleshy leaves. The flower spike bears only one or two flowers at once but it keeps growing ,which can significantly prolong the flowering period . The bases of the white tepals are embellished with crosswise ,shiny purple stripes turning in to compact spots; the identically colored lip is equiped with fimbriated protuberances on the end . The species is grown epiphytically or in flowerpots kept in quite shady ,moist place in a warm greenhouse . The flowers appear irregularly .P. modesta comes from Borneo.
