Phragmipedium-grande

Phragmipedium-grande

In vain would you search for this flower in the wild -for it was created an artificial hybridization of P. caudatum a P. longifolium . Thanks to its exceptionally low ecological demands (verging on indestructibility !),the hybrid lilterally become folk and is now oftern grown in orchid greenhouses .Its parents endowed it with robust proportions of leaf rosettes and flowers-the leaves reach lengths of 18 in /45 cm . Unfortunately ,the decorative red-and -green flowers with long pettals also inherited very short durability . The species should be grown as any standard representative of the genus . Flowers can be expected throughout the year.
