Phragmipedium richteri

Phragmipedium richteri

This orchid was discribed as late as in 1944 based on plants that had been cultivated in collections for several years before that :their owners took them for natural hybrids. The color combination on the flowers is very delicate -the pouched whitish lip is adorned with greenish venation on the outside and ''agglomerations'' of dark spots on the inside .P. richteri requires to be grown in a flowerpot filled with a light humic mixture of peat,Styrofoam, perlite ,sand, moss etc. The substrate should always be somewhat moist ,and plants will enjoy an occational misting of the leaves ,as well as a hearty dose of fertilizer.P. richteri blooms in culture throughout the year and it comes from Peru.
