Porpax lanii

Porpax lanii

Common Name - Lan's Porpax

A delicacy for the lovers of miniature orchids curiosities . The genus Porpax is characterized by pseudobulbs whose top parts are completely flat and which are totally leafless during drought periods-the ''sleeping '' plants look really spectacular on branches or rocks. Not to mention their beauty when they open up ! With the species Porpax lanii ,super -short flower spikes grow on new shoots out of the axils of the pairs of leaves . Likewise ,the brick-red flowers embellished with greenish marbling appear in twos . Their appearance is quite bizarre-the bases of their sepals are grown together ,thus allowing the flowers to be only partly open .Porpax lanii should be grown as a normal epiphyte that is little more demanding of light . After the new pseudobulbs mature , treat the plants to a substantial dry period. Porpax lanii species blooms between late fall and spring and comes from southern Asia.
