Rodriguezia sp

This gorgeous plant resembles a Brazilian species Rodriguezia bracteata ,but it will have to wait longer for precise classification.Its barely 1.2 in/3 cm longer peudobulbs bear stiff ,thin leaves . Betwee n 7-12 dark purple flowers grow on an overhanging flower raceme. The purple lip is adorned with delicate dark veins and an elongated yellow spot at its base. Rodriguezia sp cultivation is not complecated and can be carried out either in flowerpots or baskets filled with a very light epiphytic substrate(in which case make sure to prevent any harmful permanent excessive dampness of the roots ),or on suspended supports . The culture environment should be ventilated and exposed to as much light as possible(while protecting the plant from direct sunlight attacking it from behind the glass!). Do not stop watering Rodriguezia sp even in the winter ,as the plants continued to develop and the pseudobulbs may bloom repetedly ,up to several times a year.
