sarcoglyphis mirabilis

Common Name - The Wonderful Sarcoglyphis

sarcoglyphis mirabilis is a handsome orchid of small proportions and noted for the decorative appearance of its green body parts . Its monopodial stem grows only very slowly ; it is covered with two raws of extremely thickned leaves that are almost round -shaped in cross -section and sport a lengthwise groove . The delicate whitish flowers with a purple lip are 0.4 in/1 cm across and grow on a semi-erect flowerspike that bears 5-12 of them . sarcoglyphis mirabilis is relatively demanding as far as air movement and sufficient sunlight are concerned . Grow it epiphytically ,muchlike Ascoentrum orchids . Flowers appear on the plant between April and June and its natural habitat in Thailand .
