Sigmatostalix radicans

Sigmatostalix radicans is a small orchid ,of a value for miniature -collocters and growers with limited cultivation space . The species has a lot to speak for it ; its proportions ,as well as its vitality and the decorativeness of its fast growing clusters . Unfortunately ,the flowers are really tiny . Sigmatostalix radicans species is also known under the synonym Ornithophora radicans and is related to the genus Oncidium . Its small , elongated egg-shaped pseudobulbs and in pairs of grass-like leaves . The flower spike are not long and bear clusters of 2-10 whitish yellow flowers the size of 0.6 in /1.5 cm or smaller . The lip is yellow and the flower part in the middle , knows as column ,is purple . The orchid is extremely undemanding in cultivation ;it will be happy if suspended on a small piece of wood or bark and provided with semi-shade and moderate watering . The flowers appearing in late summer and in the fall. Sigmatostalix radicans species is native of Brazil .
