sobralia leucoxantha Orchid is found in Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia as a warm to hot growing terrestrial or epiphyte at altitudes below 1000 meters with elongate stems carrying several, broad, elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous above, more or less scurfy below leaves with verrucose leaf-sheaths that blooms in summer and early fall on a short, terminal, single flowered inflorescence with large, fragrant, short-lived flowers.
