Common Name The Star-Lily Sobralia

sobralia liliastrum Orchid is found in Colombia, Venezuela, the Guianas, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil usually on steep banks with subxerophytic vegatation, near riversides, near waterfalls at elevations around 1300 meters as a large sized, hot growing terrestrial with narrowly lanceolate, long-acuminate, striate, plicate leaves that blooms on a short, successively flowered inflorescence with a few, fleshy, fragrant, short-lived flowers occuring in the summer and early fall.
