Spathoglottis lobii

The member of the relatively large (approximately 55 species ) genus Spathoglottis are very much alike - most of them are terrestrial plants with small sessile pseudobulbs bearing 4-5 lengthwise waved ,lanceolate leaves . Their erect flowers raceme consists of a small number of very showvy flowers - they are sulphur yellow with a red decoration in the center . The distinguishing feature of the genus is the shape of the arched flower column and the long lip(whose middle lob is thin and intencely broadened on the end ) . Spathoglottis lobii requires cultivation in the pot containing a pet substrate enriched with clay ,sand and Styrofoam . In the summer , place the plant in a fairly shady environment . Spathoglottis lobii blooms in the spring and comes from south west Asia .
