Common Name - Embre's Stanhopea [20th Century American Botanist]

After it was discovered ,the plant was taken for the Mexicon species Stanhopea hernandezii and it wasn't until later that it received its own name . It resembles other Stanhopeas in appearance .Its beautiful flowers with greenish -to - cream white tepals are up to 4 in /10 cm across and grow in a sparse suspended inflorescence bearing 2-4 of them. Stanhopea embreei lip has a complecated morphology ;it is whitish with delicate purple dotting on the tips and a dark ornge base sporting two pronounced dark spots . Grow it in the same way as Stanhopea martiana . The flowers appear on the plant between late spring and summer .Its natural habitat is in Ecuador ,in elevations between 1,640 -3,300 ft /500 and 1,000 m .
