Stanhopea martiana

Stanhopea martiana

Common Name - The Sea Side Stanhopea

The appearance of Stanhopea martiana's green parts is similar to those of the other members of the genus Stanhopea. A suspended flower scape bears two or three yellowish flowers that are up to 5.6 in/ 14 cm in diameter . Their greatest decoration consists of sparse purple spots and the same coloring of the bases of the tepals and the lip . The cultivation rules are almost the same for any Stanhopea . Potential admires of these plants should pay careful attention to the location of the plants in a collection, to begin with ;the robust ,spindle -shaped foundations of future inflorescence are famous for their positive geotropism . Cultivators must take this quality in to account . If you do not grow Stanhopes epiphytically on bare branches or vetical slabs of bark ,should plant them in spacious and relatively shallow epiphytic baskets . The substrate ought to be loose enough to allow the flower shoots to grow through it unharmed ( a mixture of small pieces of small bark ,strips of peat moss ,Styrofoam and all similar ingredients is suitable ). cultivation in pots is absolutely not recommended . All stanhopea orchids require a semi-shady and well -ventilated environment ,regulat watering and ,when new pseudobulbs are forming ,a good amount of fertilizer . Reduce watering during stagnation . The species Stanhopea martiana blooms in late summer and comes from Mexico .
