Common Name - The Blunt-Broad Horn Stanhopea

This representative of the Stanhopea genus is still relatively rare in collections . Its pseudobulbs are rather large . The appearance of the pseudobulbs and leaves is the same as that of the related species . Between 3-6 waxy ,tender blossoms grow on a 8 -10 in/ 20 -25 cm long suspended iinflorescence . Grow Stanhopea platyceras species epiphytically or in a ''sparse ''wooden basket ,much like S.martiana . The floweres appear in the fall. The plant's natural habitat is in the foothills of the Colombian Andes .
