Common Name - The Sack-Shaped Stanhopea

A robust member of the genus ,with bizarre twisted lateral protuberances on a whitish yellow lip. Its proportions make this plant rather unsuitable for amateur cultivators ' small greenhouses . The sparsely flowered , spreading inflorescence bear occationally 1,but more oftern 2-4 flowers with yellow tepals and a whitish lip . The tip of the lip of Stanhopea saccata is adorned with delicate dots . Grow Stanhopea saccata species ' as you would Stanhopea martiana. The plant blooms in the summer and is still quite widespread in the humid rain forests of the northern part of the South America including Mexico.
