Common Name - The Long-Leafed Stenoglottis

Stenoglottis longifolia is a terrestrial orchid, very decorative when in bloom , is not cultivated very often . Every year ,its succulent roots give rise to rosettes of spotty ,3.2 -4.8 in/ 8-12 cm long leaves ,and flower spike reaching a length of up to 14 in/35 cm and bearing a lot (30-90) of tiny pinkish flowers with forked lip. To cultivate Stenoglottis longifolia orchid ,plant it in pots with an airy humic substrate . After the flowers fade,the above -ground body parts die, which is why the plant should be wintered in a cool and dry environment . Stenoglottis longifolia blooms between August and October and is native to the Natalu semi-deserts of south Africa .
