Common Name - The Blunt Taeniophyllum

Taeniophyllum obtusum is a leafless orchid with an extremely reduced stem (0.4 in/1 cm at the most( !) and flattened assimilating roots . But in contrast to the showy flowered genera Chiloschista and polyrrhiza,it forms only minuscule ,0.12 -0.2 in /3-5 mm -across whitish yellow flowers that appear singly or in short sparse racemes . The proportions of the flower -producing ''root rosettes '' are usually very small -2-4 in 5-10 cm across .Taeniophyllum obtusum, the orchid needs high levels of humidity and are sensitive to excessive dryness and other cultivation errors. Due to its high demanding nature it is generally recommended only for staunch admirers of orchid curiosities for cultivation . Taeniophyllum obtusum has irregular blooming habits and usually blooms during the fall. The original home of Taeniophyllum obtusum orchid is Malasia ,Thailand ,Combodia and Indonesia .
