Trichocentrum pulchrumFlower Size 1 1/2" [4 cm] Trichocentrum pulchrum commonly known as The Beautiful Trichocentrum is a dwarf epiphyte. It is found in wet forests at elevations of 1000 to 1600 meters. The entire genus Trichocentrum consisting all of its 20 described species are considered beautiful orchids -a fact that is proven by the Latin name of the species in question - Trichocentrum pulchrum (i.e., ''pulchritudinous,comely '') .The orchid has pseudobulbs that are miniscule to the point of being nearly invisible among the elongated ,fleshy leaves reaching lengths of 3.6 in/9 cm and sporting a round tip. It has single white flowers that grow on shorter spikes and are yellow on the bases of their lips. All the other tepals on the plant are decorated with lengthwise stripes of delicate red dots . It blooms in the summer (july ,August) and its orinigal home is Venezuela,Colombia,Ecuador and Peru. SynonymsEpidendrum maculatum Aubl. 1775; Lophiaris maculata (Aubl.)
