Trichoceros parviflora

Trichoceros parviflora is a representative of a small genus (5 species ) of epiphytic or lithophytic orchids . These plants are highly sought after mainly because of their small proportion and intriguing body morphology .Single, almost ball -shaped pseudobulbs grow on long stoloniferous protuberances. Each pseudobulb is belted with two or more stiff leaves at the base . Flowers grow on sparse overhanging inflorescences from the axils of the leaves ane they are quite attractive .Trichoceros parviflora orchid has 1 in /2.5 cm long or smaller yellow flowers with a red ,intensely hairy base of the lip . The likewise hairy column in the middlle of the flower bears two blunt horny protuberances (hence the generic name-''tricho''means ''hairy'',''ceros '' means ''horn'').It has flowers that look very much like bumblebees.

The lithophytic species as a whole generally blooms very slowly under epiphytic cultivation. Usually the blooming season of Trichoceros parviflora is in the early spring. Trichoceros parviflora orchid species belongs to the medium elevations and its original home is in the South American Andes.
