Trichopilia fragransFlower Size to 4 1/2" [11 cm Trichopilia fragrans commonly known as the Fragrant Trichopilia is an epiphyte with similar cultivation requirements as Trichopilia. marginata. This is a medium sized orchid which grows in cool to cold temperatures. The pure white flower lips of this genus are oftern almost transperant ; unfortunately ,their beauty quickly passes -the flowers fade after only 2-3 days . Luckily ,there are up to 2-3 usually two -flowered (rarely multi -flowered )spikes growing successively out of the bases of the densely crowded pseudobulbs ,which are elongated ,flat, unifoliate and reach lengths of 4.8 in /12 cm. Trichopilia fragrans blooms in late fall and is widespread over a vast area including the West Indies ,Venezuela ,Colombia, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador at elevations of 1200 to 2800 meters.
