Vanda coerulescens known commonly as The Shy Blue Vanda is a monopodial species originally from China, Burma and Thailand. This orchid has a small sized epiphyte and is usually found at elevations ranging from 300 to 800 meters. All Vanda hybrids bloom unwillingly and irregularly owing to insufficient sunlight in the winter. The leaves of V. coerulescens are up to 12 in /30 cm long ;the stem tends to be 16 in/40 cm long or even longer . Lilac blue blossoms are 1.2 -1.6 in/3-4 cm across and their lip is adorned with purple and blue markings . it has a flower size of 1 1/2" and usually blooms from march and may. The Vanda coerulescens flowers are longer than leaves with a pleasent scent of grape and is long lasting.
