Botrytis Flower Spot |
Botrytis Flower SpotThe disease affects all cultivated species of orchids. It is produced by a fungus called Botrytis cinerea. The flowers of the infected plants are ruined by the appearance of black spots on floral parts. The fungus sporulates on dead organic matter like old leaves and wilted flowers . So keeping the environment clean is the first step in controlling the fungus . Keep the plants in a place where humidity is low, temperature is high and there is good ventilation . Spraying with 2 -aminobutane amine or tetrachloroisophtha-lonitrile will effectively eradicate the fungus .
