Transplanting of Seedlings |
Transplanting of SeedlingsTen to twelve months after sowing , the seedling are ready to transplant . They are taken out carefully one by one either by means of a looped wire or by slowly pouring out with the adhering agar medium . The seedlings are put in water till all agar is washed away and then dipped in a mild solution of fungicide . The transpanting beds are prepared in shallow , clean wooden flats, in which either moss alone or moss and finely teased osumunda or ferm fibre or fine grade of bark in equal proportions are tightly packed . After transpanting , the flats are kept away from direct sunlight for a few days and preferably under glass , which helps to retain moisture and to keep away diseases. After growing in the community flats for a year or two , the seedlings are planted in individual thumb-pots , which are not more than two or three inches across . Later on they are transferred to larger pots.
